To celebrate the remastering of the Queen Mary 2, Cunard hosted a beautiful afternoon tea entitled the ‘Sailaway Celebration’.
Fews Marquees were invited to build a viewing platform and luxury hospitality area on the quayside at Southampton Docks, for entertaining the liner’s distinguished guests and dignitaries.
Whilst the military brass band played and cannons exploded with confetti, the celebration of this iconic vessel was truly delivered in style!
The Premium Structure we created featured an end-to-end glass facade housing sets of glazed double doors which lead guests to a bespoke outdoor terrace complete with astro turf floor covering, chrome and glass balustrade and clear roof canopy. This provided the ideal viewing environment for the magnificent Queen Mary 2, which was moored on a birth right next to the marquee.
Within the structure, immaculate white flat linings created a sleek backdrop to the themed decor, which celebrated much of the ship’s history. Gilded feature panels around the room told the story of The Queen Mary’s famous voyagers including royalty and celebrities. Whilst guests relaxed at a variety of tables, including louis sofas and coffee tables, formal dining tables and chiavari chairs and outdoor deck chairs, Cunard’s staff served a delicious selection of refreshments.
